Best for invoices, bank statements, financial reports, lab data, vendor lists. For scanned PDFs run OCR PDF first.
Convert PDF tables to Excel — invoices, statements, reports
If you receive financial data as PDFs and need it back in Excel, you have two options: re-type it (slow, error-prone), or use a tool that detects the columns automatically. GN PDF's PDF-to-Excel does the second, entirely in your browser, with no upload, no daily limit, and no per-row charge.
How it works
- Drop your PDF onto the page. Multi-page is fine.
- Pick a mode. "Auto-detect tables" finds clear column alignment and gives you tidy tables. "One sheet per page" extracts every line as a row — useful when you want full control in Excel.
- Pick the output format. Excel .xlsx, CSV, or OpenDocument .ods.
- Convert & Download. Open in Excel, LibreOffice, Numbers, or Google Sheets.
Best uses
- Bank statements → categorise transactions, build a personal-finance dashboard.
- Vendor invoices → reconcile against POs in your accounting system.
- Price lists / catalogues → import into an e-commerce backend.
- Exam result sheets → tabulate marks by student and subject.
- Lab data and survey results → run statistical analysis.
- Compliance reports → re-aggregate into a board-ready summary.
Frequently asked questions
How does the table detection work?
We cluster text runs by vertical position into rows, then by horizontal position into columns using gap detection. Cells that share an X-range across multiple rows become a column. This works well for tables with clear column alignment — invoices, bank statements, price lists, exam result sheets, vendor catalogues.
Will all tables be detected perfectly?
For most clean PDFs, yes. Tables with merged cells, multi-line cells, or visually-implied columns (no actual whitespace gap) may need manual cleanup in Excel after conversion.
Can I get CSV or ODS instead?
Yes — pick the format from the Output dropdown. CSV is best for downstream scripts and database imports.
Is each PDF page a separate sheet?
Yes by default. Use the "Auto-detect tables" mode if you want only the detected table portions; "One sheet per page" gives you every row of every page.
Does the file leave my browser?
No. Detection and conversion both happen locally.
