How to permanently rotate a PDF
Phone-scanned PDFs land sideways or upside-down all the time. Adobe Reader's View → Rotate looks like it fixes the orientation, but it's just a display trick — close and re-open, and the page is sideways again. To truly rotate a PDF, the rotation has to be written into the file itself, which is exactly what this tool does using pdf-lib.
Steps
- Drop your PDF onto the box. Pick a rotation angle.
- Click Rotate & Download. The new file saves to your device with rotation baked in.
When you need per-page control
If a PDF has, say, page 3 upside-down but pages 1, 2, 4 fine, open the file in our main editor and use the per-page rotate button in the small page toolbar. Apply Changes, download, done.
Frequently asked questions
Can I rotate only specific pages?
For per-page rotation, use our main editor — it has per-page rotate buttons. This standalone tool rotates every page by the same angle.
Does this change the file size?
Marginally — only the page rotation metadata is updated. The underlying PDF content is preserved exactly.
Will the rotation stick in Adobe Reader?
Yes. Unlike the View → Rotate menu in some readers (which is a temporary display setting), this tool writes the rotation into the PDF itself.
